My Story

Lemmi King is a Low Brass Performer and Composer, based on the West Coast. She discovered her love for music at a very young age, starting piano lessons as young as 3 years old. Music has been in her life in some way ever since, whether it’s been choir groups or percussion club. In middle school, Lemmi discovered her love for ensemble playing after joining band in the 6th grade. After being handed a Euphonium, then a Tuba and later a Trombone, she quickly began to work towards a career in music.

Lemmi’s love of music compelled her to seek out more musical opportunities, joining all elective music classes that her school offered. She also participated in Honor Band Competitions across Nevada and Utah, along with joining the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra. Later in her career, she would participate in the Southern Utah University Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Ensemble ran by Dr. Trevor Davis. Lemmi will perform the Gregson Tuba Concerto with the SUU Wind Symphony in the spring while touring.

Her time in school is a testimony to the passion and care she has for music.  As early as high school, Lemmi would spend anywhere from 3, upwards to 7 hours a day playing an instrument or writing music. Wanting to be challenged, she auditioned for the Interlochen Academy of the Arts, gaining admittance to the Michigan-based school in the 2020 schoolyear. She attended the summer program in 2021, one year after the COVID-19 pandemic would put the world in standstill. After graduating high school, she would attend Southern Utah University on a presidential scholarship for music, where she would be invested and strive towards earning her bachelor’s degree in music performance. Graduate school and possibly further schooling are Lemmi’s aim, as she pines to better herself as a musician.

During her time playing Low Brass and composing, Lemmi would meet some of the most musically influential people in her life. Early in her career, she would meet Susan Thiriot, an amazing Horn player and an even more remarkable teacher. She would be the reason Lemmi would eventually skyrocket into a music career. Along the way, Lemmi would study under large names in low brass, such as Zachary Jackson, Akshat Jain, Matthew Lyon and world renowned Tuba soloist Carol Jantsch. Later in her career, she would work with names such as Adam Lambert, Craig Moore, Dawid Mżyk, Trevor Davis and David Torres. She would also be given the opportunity to work with Marie Osmond's pit orchestra on multiple occasions.
